Regulator equipped with a generator stage 1 consisting of a unit which, on the basis of a dually stabilized power stage 2, generates a square pulsating wave whose width is modulated in the actual unit by means of a regulation device 3 which makes it possible progressively to vary the conducting/non-conducting relationship, the input of a power-conducting stage 4 being applied to the output of the modulator unit and providing sufficient regulation capacity for the control of the lamp or group of lamps 5, use being made of an integrated circuit at two of whose inputs are applied individual control potentiometer terminals, the output stage including a transistor whose dissipation capacity is disproportional to the level of electrical power handled. <IMAGE>
