Cleaning sulphur removal plant - using process water or adsorbent followed by process water, to remove gypsum deposits

Two-stage gas driers which remove sulphur from process gas must be cleaned from time to time to remove gypsum. Gypsum deposits are removed from the gas drier areas by means of process water, or first with a portion of the adsorbent medium from the upper adsorbent stage, followed by use of a part of the process water. Pref. the individual parts or areas within the gas drier are cleaned by alternate spraying in a fixed or variable cycle depending upon the load imposed upon the unit. The quantity of adsorbent used to spray the areas being treated, is smaller than the overflow during the non-spraying periods of the adsorption medium from adsorption medium storage tank in the lower circuit. The absorption medium and the process water are sprayed on by means of the same jets. In the case of several gas driers supplier from one adsorbent medium tank, the spraying cycles are selected independently.
