<p>A tape cassette (8) includes a casaette case (9) which includes a main portion (12) having substantially the same external size as that of a cassette case of a different type tape cassette and an additional portion (13) formed continuously from one side of the main portion (12), the additional portion (13) having a thickness slightly smaller than that of the main portion; and an information recognizing portion (31) provided on a lower surface of the additional portion (13) to indicate predetermined information according to whether or not a hole (32) is present at a predetermined position. With this arrangement, an information reading member provided in a tape player to discriminate whether or not a hole (32) is present at a predetermined position in the information recognising portion (31) can be located at a position apart from the cassette case of the different type tape cassette. Therefore, there is no possibility that the information reading member hinders the loading operation of the different type tape cassette into the tape player and that the information reading member malfunctions due to the loading of the different type tape cassette. <IMAGE></p> |
