<p>PURPOSE:To prevent mechanical spalling of refractory brick by inserting an spacer losing in high temp. the brick joint parts of a specific ratio in each brick size both to height and circumferential directions, respecively at the time of constructing the bricks in a converter type smelting reduction furnace. CONSTITUTION:By inserting the spacer at 0.10 - 0.40% ration to the thickness to length (height) of each brick in the circular direction and the height direction in place of the conventional case of executing with no joint at the time of constructing the furnace, stress developed with thermal expansion in the brick is remarkably relieved and the development of mechanical spalling to the brick in the furnace at the time of executing blowing for the smelting reduction or scrap melting, is remarkably reduced, and the refractory cost can be reduced. As the spacer losing in high temp. inserted in between the bricks, a carton, an aluminum plate, a wooden plate, etc., is used. The carton and the wooden plate are carbonized or burnt under high temp. and the aluminum plate is melted and allowed to flow out under high temp. As the vol. is drastically reduced, the stress caused by the thermal expansion of brick is sufficiently relieved.</p> |
