PURPOSE:To perform high density recording by forming an optical recording material having a recording layer wherein a low-molecular compound forming an unpaired electron by the irradiation with short wavelength light is dispersed in a high-molecular compound and irradiating the recording layer with short wavelength light to perform recording. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording medium 4 having a recording layer 2 wherein a low-molecular compound forming an unpaired electron by the irradiation with short wavelength light (e.g. wavelength: 300-500nm) is dispersed in a high-molecular compound and the recording layer 2 is heated to glass transition temp. or higher and irradiated with short wavelength light while a magnetic field is applied and cooled while the magnetic field applied to perform recording. As the low-molecular compound forming the unpaired electron by the irradiation with short wavelength light, for example, a hydrazone derivative, a pyrazoline derivative, a styryl derivative, an ethylene derivative, an imidathione derivative, an oxazole derivative, a triphenylmethane derivative, a triazole derivative and carbazole derivative are cited. |
