PURPOSE:To prevent a parting line from being generated by coating the fixing roller with an elastic rubber material so that the external diameter of the roller coated with the elastic rubber material in an unvulcanized state has a specific relation with the external diameter of the roller after vulcanization and polishing. CONSTITUTION:A roller mandrel 20 which is made of aluminum, iron, copper, etc., is coated with the elastic rubber material across a primer to specific thickness to form an elastic rubber coating layer 30 in an unvulcanized state. The layer 30 needs to be thicker than the external diameter D after the polishing so as to satisfy 1.04D<=A<=1.12D, where A is the external diameter of the roller right after the roller is coated with the unvulcanized elastic rubber material and D is the finish external diameter of the roller after the vulcanization and polishing. When A is less than that, the effect to prevention against parting line generation after the manufacture of the fixing roller is small and when larger, the improvement of the effect can not be expected. Thus, the coating thickness of the unvulcanized elastic rubber material is set within the range to prevent the generation of the parting line almost completely. |
