PURPOSE:To improve light shielding and insulating characteristics by forming light shielding filters and transparent electrodes on the inside surfaces of >=2 sheets of transparent substrates which hold a liquid crystal layer therebetween and face each other and incorporating the fine particles of carbon and org. pigments into the light shielding filters. CONSTITUTION:The fine particles of the carbon are dispersed into the photosensitive acrylic resin and further the org. pigments adjusted to a black color are dispersed therein to form the material for the light shielding filters. A glass substrate 1 is used as a transparent substrate and patterned transparent electrodes 2 are formed on the surface thereof. The surface thereof is coated with this material and the required parts are irradiated with light and are thereby cured to form the light shielding filters 3. The substrate is thus obtd. Another transparent substrate 5 formed with the transparent electrodes 4 on the inside surface is disposed to face this substrate and a liquid crystal 6 is inserted between the substrates. The liquid crystal display device of a normally black TN system is thus produced. The light shielding and insulating characteristics are improved in this way. |
