<p>PURPOSE:To apply this device to many kinds of vehicles divisions corresponding to a city express highway without detecting the vehicle weight by discriminating the classification of the vehicle in accordance with the presence or the absence, the size, and contents of the number plate set to the front of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION:The classification of a vehicle 10 is discriminated in accordance with detection signals of first vehicle separators 11 and 12 and second vehicle separators 13 and 14, detection signals of vehicle length detectors 115 and 116, and picture information of the number plate obtained by a vehicle photographing camera 115. That is, the classification of the vehicle is discriminated in accordance with the presence or the absence, the size, and contents of the number plate set to the front side of the vehicle 10. Thus, a vehicle weight detector or the like buried in the ground to detect the vehicle weight is unnecessary, and an automatic charge collecting device is obtained which can be sufficiently applied to many kinds of vehicles divisions in the city superhighway.</p> |
