PURPOSE:To deal with a change in image output terminal (IOT) without addition of new parts by providing a control part to change the data expansion of a printer control device in accordance with the configuration of a main printer system. CONSTITUTION:Information entered in data input equipment 21 commands IOT 4 through a printer control device (ESS) 20, and if IOT 4 is in a copying state, for example, ESS 20 outputs an output standby signal for a printer to a data input mechanism 21 through a centro-system interface 22. On the other hand, if IOT 4 is in a printing ready state, data is transferred to RAM in memory 23 to the data input mechanism 21, and the data is expanded in a bit map in page memory 25. Next, the data is transferred to IOT 4 resulting in a printing process. If the configuration of IOT 4 has a change to either a back write system or an image write system, for example, ESS 20 can deal with the change using softward alone. In addition, it is possible to deal with the change by changing a protocol in IOT 4 depending on the image write system or the back write system, and the variation of image resolution on the ESS 20 side. |
