PURPOSE: To prevent a gap or blank spot from being generated. CONSTITUTION: A printing cylinder 12 equipped with an external surface 14 is positioned between supports 18 and 20 across a shaft 18. The cylinder 12 is rotated as shown by an arrow through a bath 22, containing a liquid photopolymer 26, and consequently the external surface 14 of the cylinder 12 is coated with a liquid layer 26 of the photopolymer. A selected part of the liquid layer is hardened by being exposed to a laser beam. As the cylinder 12 continues to rotate, the external surface 14 of the cylinder 12 is coated additionally with the liquid layer 26.
