Method for using a self-inductor to suppress current spikes, switch-on transients and electromagnetic noise in an electric circuit comprising a semiconductor device. The core of the self-inductor is made of an amorphous magnetic alloy having a magnetic flux density of not less than 6 kilogauss at an external magnetic field of 1 oersted, and having a coercivity (coercive force) of not more than 0.5 oersted and a squareness ratio of not less than 0.8, if the frequency is set to 100 kHz. The core of the self-inductor has a continuous hole and a conductor which is wound round the core throughout the continuous hole and is insulated with respect to the core.
