PURPOSE:To correct a focus independently of the distance of an object by letting out a focus lens in a prescribed direction when a focus evaluation reaches a prescribed threshold level during zooming and letting out the focus lens in a predetermined direction when a decrease in the calculated value attended with the focus movement is detected. CONSTITUTION:When a focus lens reaches a focus in the direction Y (focus f2, focus lens position xY) and zooms telescopically, a control circuit 15 discriminates the range to be a range D3 based on a data stored in a ROM 6 to set a threshold level. When a focus evaluation Co at a point Y is less than a prescribed threshold level (such as 80% of Co), a stepping motor 25 is driven to move the focus lens by a prescribed quantity. Then the focus evaluation after the movement is set again to the value Co and the device is in standby to the prescribedthreshold level or below. Then the focus correction corresponding to an object of any distance is attained by repeating the operation. |
