The device secures a pipe conveyor against lateral displacement of the belt (2) on a guide pulley includes a sensor (9) which projects on the side running to the guide pulley into the slit (5) of the already opened belt (2). The sensor (9) is an operating member (9) for a switch-off member (8) of the conveyor drive which reacts to striking one of the two belt edges.
