PURPOSE:To easily connect an optical isolator with an optical fiber by arranging a magnetic field impressing device around the optical fiber using a glass material having a large Verdet constant as a core and connecting optical fiber type polarizers to both the ends of the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber type polarizers 1 formed by elliptic jacket type polarization maintaining optical fibers are connected to a Faraday rotation fiber part 3 through connection reinforcing parts 2. The fiber part 3 is constituted of primary coating a Faraday rotation fiber 7 with silicone 6 and then secondary coating the coated fiber 7 with nylon 5 and arranged in a cylindrical static magnet 4 to be a magnetic field impressing device. The fiber 7 is an optical fiber using the glass material having a large Verdet constant as its core, both the ends of the fiber 7 are connected to the polarizers 1 and the axis of the incident side polarizer 1 and that of the projection side polarizer 1 are constituted so as to make 45 deg. with each other. Since the optical isolator is the optical fiber type, the optical isolator can easily be connected with the optical fiber. |
