The oil cooled piston of an i.c. engine has a crown (1) which is attached to a lower part (6). This lower part has a central fitting (10) which receives the cooling oil. The undersurface of the piston crown is so shaped that the oil is deflected to an outer annular chamber (19) in the crown (1). This annular chamber is connected to an annular chamber (23) in the lower part of the piston. The lower part (22) of the annular chamber (19) in the piston crown is fitted with a deflectorring (27) which, together with the inner wall of the annular chamber forms a nozzle (30) through which the oil is recirculated.
