PURPOSE:To always effectively feed only one sheet of medium by regulating the position of preventing means for preventing feeding of two sheets of media at a predetermined timing. CONSTITUTION:In a feeder for feeding loaded media 1 one by one by means 2 for feeding loaded media 1, a gap of preventing means 3 is gradually increased from a sufficiently smaller state than the medium 1 at an arbitrary time point, and the medium is fed by the means 2 during a period. The operation for increasing the gap and the feeding operation are conducted until the feeding of the medium 1 is detected by detecting means 4. When the feeding of the medium 1 is detected, the operation of regulating means 5 is prevented, and the means 5 is secured. Thereafter, the feeding operation is performed with this gap. Thus, the medium 1 can be always effectively fed one by one. |
