PURPOSE:To store character information with as a small amount of information by dividing a character into plural elements, composing each element of vector information on the skeleton of the element and width information crossing the vector orthogonally at the end parts of the vector, and generating the character with both the pieces of information. CONSTITUTION:The character is divided into plural elements E1, E2... constituting the character and, for example, the divided element E1 is composed of the vector information (x1, y1) on the skeleton of the element E1 and the width information C1 crossing the vector orthogonally at the end parts of the vector, so that the character is generated with vector information (Xi, Yi) and width information Ci. The vector information (xi, yi) forming the skeleton is only stored relatively, so only the coordinates (xi, yi) of an end point are required, so the character can be represented with three scalar quantities including the width information Ci. The storage capacity of a storage means CM for storing those pieces of information is minimized. |
