A carrier body which is bioactivated by antibodies covalently bonded to its surface so that, in order to regulate the growth and/or differentiate certain cell populations, the type of bond of the peptide chain of the antobodies (or antibody fragment or portion of antibody fragment) bonded on the surface is complementary to the determinant gp. of proteins which are naturally occurring in the human body. Pref. the antibody is a monoclonal antibody. Pref. the sort of bond of the peptide chain is complementary to bone-forming or cartilage-forming proteins, or to an extracellular matrix, immunomodulator or epitope on the cell membrane. Pref. the carrier surface is the surface of an implant or organ replacement material. Pref. the surface contains oxiran gps. for forming the covalent bonds with the antibody (fragments).
