Two strips of veneer are fed side by side to a table (82) of the gluing machine (70). Glue is applied to the edges of the strip by a pair of wheels, mounted beneath the table with a portion of the rim of each wheel projecting through a slot in the table. The wheels provide also the strip feed. The glued strips pass under hot air nozzles (80) and then receive an adhesive in the form of a thread spread over the surface in a zig-zag fashion. After receiving the adhesive the two strips pass through a device which presses the glued edges together.
