PURPOSE:To enable the compactness of an excavator by partitioning a work room by a front bulkhead and a rear supporting part in a shield cylinder, as well as securing a driving shaft for a face cutter fittingly between the front bulkhead and rear supporting part in such a way as to be inclined upward by a specified angle in relation to the axis of the shield cylinder. CONSTITUTION:In the shield cylinder 2, provided with a face cutter 3, of a shield excavator 1, a work room is partitioned by a front bulkhead 6 and a rear supporting member 7, and a cutting blade 9 is formed in the front. The front bulkhead 6 and rear supporting part 7 are then fixedly pierced with a boss member 11 inclined upward by theta deg. to the axis 10 of the shield front drum 2, and a driving shaft 12 for rotating the face cutter 3 is rotatably inserted into the boss member 11. The lower space of a drive unit 16 is thereby enlarged, and even if the excavator is made compact, a conveyor device such as an existing screw conveyor can be installed with sufficient inclination. |
