A method for assaying a human lung surface active substance in a specimen according to an immunological technique composed of antigen-antibody reaction, which comprises conducting the immuno-reaction in the presence of both an anionic surfactant and a nonionic surfactant in a buffer solution for the reaction. Abstract A method for quantitating human pulmonary surfactant according to the immunological method based on antigen-antibody reactions wherein the immunoreactions are conducted in a buffer solution containing a combination of anionic surfactant and nonionic surfactant.
