The invention relates to a contactor having at least one movable contact (15) which is displaceable between a closed and an open position with the aid of a contact carrier (19) connected to an armature (21) on an operating magnet. The contactor comprises a latching device (30) which locks the contact carrier in relation to the stand (11) of the contactor when the operating magnet is in the closed position. The latching device comprises balls (35) which with the aid of a spring (36) are pressed between a cylindrical and a conical surface of two coaxially arranged members (31, 32), of which one member (31) is fixedly mounted in relation to the stand (11) and the other member (32) is fixedly mounted in relation to the contact carrier (19). The latching device is designed such that the locking function ceases as soon as the control voltage to the magnet is broken. |
