PURPOSE:To obtain the magnetic recording medium having an excellent coefft. of friction at high temp./ high humidity and at low temp. by using such a fatty acid-modified org. silicone compd. as a lubricant that branched and satd. hydrocarbon groups having specified carbon number are used for the fatty acid parts thereof. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer comprising ferromagnetic powder and a binder contains an org. silicone compd. expressed by formula I. In the formula I, R is a branched and satd. hydrocarbon group having 7 - 24 carbon number, (m) is an integer from 1 to 100, (n) is an integer from 0 to 250, satisfying m>=n/5. Namely, by replacing hydrocarbon groups in the fatty acid parts of well-known fatty acid modified org. silicone by the branched and satd. hydrocarbon groups, fluidity is given to the lubricant and solubility with the binder is also improved. Thereby, the medium has excellent coefft. of friction under conditions from low temp. to high temp./high humidity. |
