<p>PURPOSE:To miniaturize a head by coupling a device provided with a polarized light detection optical system and a device provided with a polarized light source and a photoelectric converting means so as to be close to or in a close contact with each other by a coupling means. CONSTITUTION:A first device is constituted by collecting a first to a fourth waveguides 11 to 14, a first and a second mode splitters 15, 17, a polarization plane rotating element 16, and a light outgoing port 18 on a substrate. Besides, a second device 2 is constituted by collecting a first and a second photoelectric converting elements 21, 22 and the polarized light source 23 on the substrate. These devices 1, 2 are coupled by the coupling means 3 such as a machine screw, adhesive to be in a close contact with each other or close to each other while holding a spacer 4 therebetween. Thus, since the device can be constituted of two sheets of the substrates, the head can be miniaturized.</p> |
