<p>A storage heater comprises a store surrounded by thermal insulation. An outlet knob (10) is adjustable to regulate the amount of time the heating elements are supplied with off-peak power. Prior storage heaters have a temperature sensor which infers the temperature of the heat store but, in the case of fan-assisted storage heaters, spurious control of the store can take place. In the present arrangement a temperature sensor directly senses the temperature of the store and communicates via a tube 20 with bellows 18. A safety cut-out device in the charge control means (2) comprises a bimetallic clicker disc attached to a rod (22). Separate contacts (13, 14) are bridgeable by a contact (15) mounted on an overcentre spring (16). The same contacts are operated by both sensor 9 and the safety cut out device. <IMAGE></p> |
