PURPOSE:To enhance heat efficiency and to control the temp. of a recording layer accurately corresponding to the temp. of a planar heater by integrating a recording medium utilizing the optical change accompanied by a change in a degree of crystallization in recording with the planar heater. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer 1 composed of a crystalline polymer has a planar heater 2 and an image is formed to the recording layer by scanning the surface of the recording layer 1 by a thermal recording head 3 or a heat pen 4. When the recording layer 1 is heated to the m.p. of the crystalline polymer and quenched, the crystalline polymer is solidified in a state low in a degree of crystallization to take a transparent high transmissivity state and becomes a dark state under crossed Nicols. When the recording layer 1 is heated to the m.p. of the crystalline polymer or higher and cooled gradually, the crystalline polymer is solidified in a state high in a degree of crystallization to take a cloudy low light transmissivity state to become a bright state under crossed Nicols. By integrating the recording layer 1 and the planar heater 2 as mentioned above, easy writing and erasure becomes possible and heat efficiency is high because both of them are integrated and the temp. of the recording layer 1 can be controlled so as to accurately correspond to the temp. of the planar heater 2. |
