A new controller is capable of selecting and checking the other channel or external video singla during playback. Microcomputer (10) generates control signal corresponding to input signal from video in/out key (7)(8) operation control switch (9) video signal switch (20) selects external video or other channel signal, and buffers selected one on buffer (30). In connection with (20)(30) output video signal switch (70) selects playback or buffered signal. Audio signal switch (90) selects other channel singla via buffer (80) or external audio signal (81). Output audio signal switch (100) selects playback audio or audio signal selected from (90).
