The full top or bottom denture is fitted with suction grippers. The grippers consist of one or more parallel walled pins of circular section. These are placed with clearance into extraction wounds or artificially produced indentations in the jaw to allow the mucous membrane to cover the cavity. The pins are fixed or screwed to the denture and are no thicker at their ends than in their shaft part. USE/ADVANTAGE - Dentistry. Suction pins fit with play into the cavity and close off via mucous, leaving cavity open when denture is withdrawn, e.g. during operations etc.
