The method sets the check point for detecting the overhating of the printer head high to reduce the unnecessary print time when the duty ratio is low, e.g. in the draft mode, but low when the duty ratio is high, e.g. in the em,phasis mode. so that the printing time up to the overheating of the printer head is prolonged. The check point is varied according to the printing mode, e.g. draft, letter quality, or emphasis mode. If the temperature reaches to each check point, the alarm is provided to settle the over heating state by the user.
