The lens grinding machine has means to mount the lens (26) on a horizontal arm (39) which pivots on a vertical arm (18). A swinging motion is imparted to this vertical arm (18) from a driving mechanism (15). This driving mechanism consists of a block (1) which supports a shaft (2) which is belt driven from a motor. This shaft (2) has an eccentric (6) projecting from the end opposite to the driving pulley (3). This eccentric (6) drives a planet gear (7) which meshes with a fixed internally toothed gear (36). The planet gear (7) has an eccentric boss (9) which supports the driving pulley (10). This driving pulley (10) has a third eccentric (14) which drives the connecting rod (16) which drives the swinging arm (18). USE - Lens grinding.
