Fuel for otto engine - contg. alkoxylated poly:isobutyl:amine as oil sludge dispersant

A fuel for Otto engines contains a small amt. of cpds. of formula (I). In (I) R = polyisobutylene gp. with mol. wt. 500-5,000; R1 = H, Me or Et; m = 0 or 1. Pref. the fuel contains 50-5000 ppm of (I), and opt. other fuel detergents, antifreeze agents, corrosion inhibitors and/or antioxidants. In (I), the mol. wt. of R is 800-1500. (I) are prepd. by hydroformylation of a polyisobutylene R', followed by hydrogenative amination and reaction with ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or butylene oxide in presence of water. (R' = olefin with 1 fewer H than the gp. R). ADVANTAGE - (I) disperse oil sludge, in addn. to acting as carburettor detergents and valve cleaners.
