Flameproofing solid combustible material - by wetting with soln. of bone or hide glue

Flame-proofing process involves wetting solid, combustible material, e.g. wood or paper, with a 0.1-10% soln. of bone or hide glue. Pref. Na2SO4 and CaC12.2H20 may be added to the soln. To prevent corrosion of the extinguishers, 0.5 g/l of ascorbic acid, 0.5 g/l of tartaric acid of 0.5g/l of "Sokolan" (RTM : mixt. of carboxylic acid salts) may be added. ADVANTAGE - Material is rendered hardly inflammable, and material which is already burning is quickly extinguished e.g. forest fires can be dealt with without danger to plants and animals.
