Vehicle wheel brake thermal over loading warning method - analysing measured temp. of brakes and comparing with limit representing max. temp. at full braking

The method has heat sensors measuring the instantaneous temperature of a brake component at each wheel of the vehicle. These measured temperatures (1) are analysed for the presence of a trend - i.e. their time averages (2) are formed and the slope of these averages is measured. Slopes and averages are combined (3) and the resulting combination (3) is compared with a fixed limit, TG, (4) that represents the max. temp. when the brake is exerting its full braking power. When this limit is exceeded, an alarm (5) is raised. The combination is achieved by summation. The comparison takes place at regular intervals of time or after a given number of brakings. USE/ADVANTAGE - Warns of and avoids overloading vehicle's brakes.
