FILMING METHOD FOR SEPARATING ORGANIC LIQUID

PURPOSE: To efficiently separate the object by bringing a charge compsn. contg. a specified oxygen-contg. org. compd., etc., into contact with the higher pressure side of a nonporous membrane separation layer and dropping the pressure toward the lower pressure side to cause permeation through the separation layer. CONSTITUTION: A charge compsn. contg. <3C alcohol and an oxygen-contg. org. compd. such as an org. ether or aldehyde is brought into contact with the higher pressure side of a nonporous membrane separation layer comprising a mixture of a polyvinyl alcohol and a poly(meth)acrylic acid on a polyacrylonitrile support layer. The pressure is then dropped from the higher pressure side toward the lower pressure side and the compsn. is caused to permeate the separation layer as a dilute mixture contg. a larger amt. of the alcohol and a smaller amt. of the oxygen-contg. compd. than the compsn. The dilute mixture is recovered as a permeated material from the lower pressure side of the separation layer in a vapor phase under a lower pressure than the vapor pressure of the mixture.
