发明名称 METHOD OF STARTING REFORMER FOR FUEL CELL
摘要 PURPOSE:To make temperature distribution in a catalyst layer uniform and to shorten starting time by supplying fuel and water to a reforming pipe in a reformer at the same time as the start of burner combustion and by using a reaction product as fuel to start the reformer by bypassing a cell. CONSTITUTION:Stop valves 19, 21 are closed and a stop valve 23 is opened, then a combustion blower 27, an auxiliary fuel supply pump 25, and a methanol supply pump 16 are started to burn methanol and air in a burner 2. The combustion gas heats a vaporizing pipe 6 and a reforming pipe 8, then it is exhausted from an exhaust gas outlet 9. When a high temperature part is formed in a reforming catalyst layer within the pipe 8, methanol is decomposed to hydrogen and carbon monoxide for reforming. Since this reaction is endothermic reaction, temperature in that part is decreased and temperature distribution in the catalyst layer is made uniform. The reformed gas is supplied to the burner as fuel through a bypass line 22, and after the catalyst layer reached a specified temperature, a water supply pump 17 is started, and the reformed gas is supplied to a fuel cell 11.
