Contact nozzle for use in electric welding, having a helical passage 6 for a fusible welding rod 2. The nozzle 3 is realized such that there is good physical contact between the welding rod and the nozzle, at least over a specific section. The length of this section is sufficient to allow effective transmission of necessary welding current to the welding rod 2. In order to prevent over-powerful heating of the welding rod in the nozzle 3 with a risk of disturbances in the advancement of the rod, the nozzle 4 is electrically insulated 7 from the welding rod 2 apart from over the said section.
