PURPOSE:To enhance the on-ice braking characteristic and the resistance against sideways slipping on ice or snow of a pneumatic tire for bus, etc., by furnishing a sideways thive in a block within the specified region of the tread grounding width, and relating the ratio of block surface area to the block projected length in the direction across the tire width specifically to the tread grounding width. CONSTITUTION:In a block pattern tire having a flatness factor of 80-120% and a negative ratio of 25-40%, thives 10-12 are formed in the region over 30% of the tread grounding width (a) as stretching in the direction across the tire width in each block 7a-9a. In each row of blocks 7a-9a, the ratio gamma of the block surface area to the block projection length in the direction across the tire width shall be set in the range 0.05a<gamma<0.2a, where a is tread grounding width. This allows maintaining the on-snow traction performance and enhances the on-ice braking characteristic and the resistance against sideways slipping on the ice or snow. |
