Activatable alkaline prim. cell - having silver oxide electrode with copper current collector

An activatable alkaline prim. cell has a positive electrode consisting of Cu current collector onto which a mixt. of AgO and PTFE binder is pressed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The cell is useful as a short life, high energy output battery for life-saving equipment, guided aircraft or underwater drives. It has a long storage life (at least 5 years), without corrosive attack by the AgO which causes service voltage redn., and is less espensive than cells with an AgO electrode having a precious metal current collector.
