摘要 In a contact lens with a body of transparent material and a biocompatible surface, a biologically active substance has been bonded onto the surface of the lens body. The biologically active substance is pref. bonded electro-statically or covalently onto the surface, opt. through a gegenion, opt. of a polyelectrolyte, partic. polyethyleneimine. The biologically active substance is a mucine analogue, esp. a glycosaminoglycane. The lens body is of polymethyl meth-acrylate or silicone rubber, and may be permeable to gases. esp. to O2. The surface of the lens body is negatively charged by saponification or oxidn., and is made reactive w.r.t. the biologically active substance by bonding a polymeric gegenion onto the surface followed by covalent bonding of the biologic-ally active substance onto the reactive surface. Or a polyethy-leneimine copolymer is electrostatically adsorbed onto the oxidised surface of the lens body followed by adsorption of a heparin (partly) terminally degraded to a pentose. ADVANTAGE- The lens surface is permanently biocompatible. The lens material may be hard or soft (claimed).
