PURPOSE:To permit the mounting of the title device on an already existing nitriding furnace and effect the perfect decomposing process of ammonia gas in exhaust gas by a method wherein the title device is provided with a tubular insulating body and a reaction tube, equipped in the insulating body and provided with catalyst for decomposing ammonia. CONSTITUTION:A reaction tube 4, receiving heat generating bodies 5, ammonia decomposing catalysts 9, heat insulating bodies 10 and the like therein, is mounted to a mounting place 3, provided in the heat insulating body 2a constitut ing the furnace wall of a gas nitriding furnace 2 in an exhaust gas processing device 1, in a condition that part of the reaction tube 4 is projected into a furnace. The bottom of the reaction tube 4 is provided with the suction hole 13 of exhaust gas, which is penetrated through an outer skin 12 and an insulat ing material 10 and is opened at the outside of the furnace, while the upper end of the reaction tube 4, positioned at the outside of a furnace, is provided with an exhaust port 14 opened at the outside of the furnace. Ammonia gas in exhaust gas is decomposed into hydrogen gas and nitrogen gas by the cata lytic effect of the ammonia decomposing catalyst 9, which is heated, then, is discharged to the outside of the furnace through the exhaust port 14. |
