The present invention relates to a method and hot frame 1, for protecting plantlets, especially of tree species, against the action of animals and the wind and in order to accelerate and orientate their development, guaranteeing a success rate of practically 100% on large- scale plantations, characterized in that the hot frame 1 comprises an elongate structure, which is open at the top and underneath, to be installed vertically around each plant to be protected 7. On its vertical lateral surface, the hot frame may have openings 3 made in order to allow ventilation of the inside thereof. For fixing of the hot frame around the plantlet, the hot frame 1 is equipped with at least two horizontal tongues 4 each of which passes via a horizontal slot open in its lateral surface and has a protected opening 5 in order to allow the passage of an auxiliary stake 6 and/or at least two openings for the passage of a string, for example made from raffia, which provides secure the fixing to the stake. Each hot frame 1 is optionally supplemented by a disc 2 of suitable dimensions for preventing the development of invasive weeds next to the protected plant.
