PURPOSE:To obtain a continuous refractive index distribution by molding a mixture composed of a polymer A, a solvent B and a monomer C which has a high refractive index after polymerization with the polymer A to a columnar shape, evaporating the solvent B and the monomer C from the surface thereof, and polymerizing the mixture. CONSTITUTION:The polymer A, the solvent B and the monomer C which has the high refractive index after polymerization with the polymer A are charged into a cylinder 1 and while the mixture is heated and dissolved by a heater 3, the mixture is extruded by a piston 4, is mixed in a kneading part 2 and is extruded from a nozzle 5, by which a stranded fiber 6 is obtd. The fiber 6 is then sent into an evaporating part 7 where the solvent B and the monomer C are evaporated from the surface of the fiber 6 by gases, such as air and nitrogen, introduced form a gas introducing part 9 and the continuous concn. distribution is generated in the fiber. After this concn. distribution is controlled by various methods according to purposes, the fiber is introduced into a part 8 for irradiation with active rays to polymerize and solidify the remaining monomer. The fiber is then taken upon a take-up drum 11. The object transmission body having the continuous refractive index distribution is obtd. in this way. |
