Surface improvement of cerium-activated phosphor - esp. silicate phosphor, by firing in air

The surface condition of Ce-activated (esp. silicate phosphors for CRTs is improved by firing at 500-1200 (pref. 750-950) deg. C in air before use. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is useful for treating P16phosphor (Ce-activated Ca2MgSi2O2). The treatment improves the wetting and deposition properties of the phosphor by reducing hydrophobicity and can reduce gassing on electron bombardment, without affecting emission properties or the brightness characteristic.
