The container (30) for handling sheets of photosensitive photographic material has a sliding lid (35) as a light-tight seal so that the container contents are completely protected. The lid slides in grooves (34) formed around three sides of the container and is held in place by a spring-loaded pin. The pin has a stepped dia., with the larger dia. engaging a recess a press in the edge of the lid. The pin can be depressed to free the lid, but automatically engages the recess in the lid closed position. ADVANTAGE - Reduced risk of faulty handling.
