PURPOSE:To apply compressive residual stress to an auxiliary chamber block to ensure the strength by disposing a casting metal block outside a ceramic auxiliary chamber block. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary chamber 2 communicated with a main combustion chamber 1 through a nozzle hole 3 is formed on a ceramic auxiliary chamber block 4. A casting metal block 6 formed by metallic material cast in a clearance portion of a compact made of fiber reinforced material is disposed outside the auxiliary chamber block 4. The cast metal block 6 is fitted in a fitting hole 13 formed on a cylinder head 10 and fixed there, with an air layer 7 formed therebetween. By this arrangement, the compressive residual stress is applied to the high temperature resisting and high-strength auxiliary chamber 4 by the cast metal block 6 to ensure the strength of the auxiliary chamber 4, so that the occurrence of damage can be prevented so as to improve the durability of the auxiliary chamber 2. |
