PURPOSE:To increase volume density by constituting a fuel cell with unit cells connected with planar power generating elements in series for flowing in the plane, and making the flowing directions of a cell main body opposite to each other for odd stages and for even stages. CONSTITUTION:Power generating elements constituted of a fuel electrode 4, an electrolyte, and an air electrode 7 are connected in series by inner connectors 6 to form a unit cell. Flat unit cells are overlapped in turn with the electrode 4 faced to the fuel feed side 10 and the electrode 7 faced to the air side 9. Cells are connected in series at end sections by current collecting wires 13 via current collecting electrodes 12. The whole body conveys the weight to the lower section in sequence by supporting corrugated materials 11. Sealing is performed between peripheral support frames 15 and 16 with a seal material 17. The volume efficiency and weight efficiency of this fuel cell can be made 10 times or above as compared with a cylindrical fuel cell. |
