The invention concerns a snow strap element for fixture to rubber tyres of vehicle wheels, with a central clamping mechanism, in the hub portion of which strap sections designed as toothed racks, mutually arranged in pairs and free to move in opposite directions, engage with pinions fixed to a common axle. The invention is characterized in that one end of a clamping spring (13) is connected to the shaft (12) of the pinions (11), while the other end of the clamping spring (13) is secured to an actuating plate (4), whereby the hub portion (6) of the clamping mechanism and the actuating plate (4) are connected to one another via a releasable ratchet look. The snow straps (1) preferably are fitted with exchangeable strap inserts (2) which are elastically held by strap springs (3), whereby the gripping edges applied to the roadway lie in the same plane. Between the snow straps (1) it is advantageous to fit a spanning strap (24) made of plastic or rubber, which forms a shell over the wheel tread. |
