<p>PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of erroneous paper feed, by providing a press means which can be pressed against the top surface of a bundle of sheets stacked on a lower stage paper feed tray, and by controlling the press means so that the latter is operated when a paper feed is made from an upper stage tray. CONSTITUTION:In the case of paper feed onto an upper stage paper feed tray 200, a press means 33 holds the top surface of a bundle 2 of sheets stacked on a lower stage paper feed tray 100. With this arrangement, even though a paper feed roller 7 is rotated before a sheet from the upper stage paper feed tray 200 reaching the paper feed roller 7, the topmost one of the sheets on the lower stage paper feed tray 100 is inhibited from advancing, by a friction force between the sheet and the press means 33 and a friction force between the sheet and a sheet just therebelow, and accordingly, a sheet is surely fed from the upper stage paper feed tray 200, thereby it is possible to prevent occurrence of erroneous paper feed.</p> |
