PURPOSE:To improve repeatability of a medium by providing a protective layer comprising a mixture of AlN and Ta2O5 on at least one side of a recording film in which information is recorded or erased. CONSTITUTION:A protective film 2 comprising a mixtrue of AlN and Ta2O5 is formed on a substrate 1 of glass or resin such as polycarbonate in which priorly grooves or pits are provided for guiding laser light. Then a recording film 2 comprising Te, Ge, Sb, is formed on the first protective layer 2, and further, another protective film 4 same as the first protective film 2 is provided. On the second protective film 4, a reflecting film 5 comprising metal such as Au, Al, Cu, Ni, Cr, etc., is provided to enhance the recording sensitivity, and after forming these thin films, a protective plate 6 is stuck thereto with an adhesive 7. By this is method grain size of AlN, which is generally rather large, can be made fine, which reduce the inner stress of the protective film 2 to avoid brittleness of the film. Thereby, the medium is improved in the stability and repeatability. |
