The invention concerns purification of waste water, particularly from the production of printed circuit plates, of water soluble compounds of heavy metals, particularly copper. While mixing, waste water is neutralised by micro-ground calcium carbonate to a pH of 5.8 to 7.7 in a quantity of 10 % by weight greater than the basic neutralisation capacity of waste water. Then an aqueous solution of dimethyldithiocarbamate is added in an equivalent quantity and the occurring coagulate is removed with suitable filtration.
